Dell’Oro Group Reports 10 Gigabit Ethernet Switch Market Surpasses Major Milestones
Steep Price Declines Fuel Growth
Redwood City, Calif. – February 15, 2007 –
A market research report from Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about
the networking and telecommunications industries, reveals that the 10 Gigabit Ethernet Switch
market recently surpassed two major milestones. According to the report, 10 Gigabit Ethernet
Switch port shipments exceeded 100 thousand in the fourth quarter of 2006, and annual revenues
handily topped $1 billion during 2006.
“Although modular 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch ports continued to dominate the shipment mix, there
was a significant shift toward fixed ports during the quarter,” said Seamus Crehan, Senior Director
of Ethernet Switch research at Dell’Oro Group. “This shift resulted in steep average selling price
declines,” added Crehan.
