IP Sees Record Penetration in PBXs in the First Quarter 2007

Avaya, Cisco, and Nortel Represent Over Half of the IP Line Revenue

Redwood City, Calif. – May 16, 2007 – A recently published report from Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, indicates that shipments of IP lines grew an impressive 40 percent in the first quarter of 2007 over the prior year period. Three vendors were responsible for more than half of the IP line shipment revenues:  Avaya, Cisco, and Nortel.

“IP Lines and IP Phones help enterprises lay the groundwork for advanced features and applications, such as Unified Communications,” commented Alan Weckel, Analyst of IP Telephony Enterprise Research at Dell’Oro Group.  “Enterprises are taking advantage of their converged voice and data network to integrate applications, and vendors are finding additional opportunities to offer software and services as part of their offerings to meet this demand,” Weckel added.

The report also reveals that Traditional PBX and Traditional Key revenues declined for the seventh straight quarter as these vendors further shift their R&D and sales focus towards IP.
