WCDMA Market Stagnant in the First Quarter
Ericsson, Nokia Siemens, and Alcatel Lucent Continue to Lead
Redwood City, Calif. – May 23, 2007 –
Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries,
reported today that the WCDMA-based mobility infrastructure market was flat in the first quarter of 2007 compared to the first quarter of last year, despite an 80 percent growth in WCDMA subscribers over the same period.
“Ericsson, Nokia Siemens, and Alcatel-Lucent continue to lead this market which, despite generating revenues for over six years, accounted for just 16 percent of the total mobility infrastructure market during the quarter,” commented Greg Collins, Vice President of Mobility Infrastructure research at Dell’Oro Group. “Because it is still quite early in WCDMA’s lifespan and there are large infrastructure contracts looming, we believe that there is ample opportunity for vendors to gain and lose share in the WCDMA market in the coming years,” added Collins.
