Dell’Oro Group Forecasts Gradual Growth for Mobility Infrastructure Market Through 2011

Mobile WiMax and Femto BTS will complement WCDMA

Redwood City, Calif. – July 24, 2007 – In a newly released report by Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for information about the telecommunications and networking industries, worldwide mobility infrastructure equipment revenues are projected to grow modestly over the next several years as weakness in spending due to declines in net subscription additions is more than offset by increases in infrastructure spending due to WCDMA, Mobile WiMax and Femto technologies.

“While the WCDMA market has grown more slowly than expected, GSM’s continued success in driving penetration in developing regions has boosted the market for mobility infrastructure,” said Greg Collins, Vice President of Mobility Infrastructure research at Dell’Oro Group. “The market in aggregate is forecasted to grow in the low-to-mid single digits through 2011. We also expect that Mobile WiMax and Femto BTS, while currently garnering a great deal of attention from the industry, will grow to take a complementary, but relatively minor role in mobility networks over the next five years,” added Collins.
