Dell’Oro Group Reports Strong Fibre Channel Switch Sales in the Fourth Quarter of 2006
Demand at High-End Bolsters Brocade and Cisco
Redwood City, Calif. – March 20, 2007 –
According to a recently published report by Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information
about the networking and telecommunications industries, high-end Fibre Channel switch sales grew more
than 15 percent during the fourth quarter of 2006. Storage equipment resellers quickly snapped up
high-end switches as manufacturers dropped prices faster than the normal rate.
“Fibre Channel switch prices are very attractive and are likely to become even more so by the end of
2007,” said Tam Dell’Oro, President and Founder of Dell’Oro Group. “Brocade will likely increase cost
efficiencies now that it dominates the market shipment volumes, and Cisco might be able to leverage its
purchasing power from its huge presence in the Ethernet switch market,” added Dell’Oro.
