Popular Demand for IBM P and X Series Servers Bolster HBA Market During the First Quarter
Dell'Oro Group Reports Blade Servers Bring New Business to Emulex and QLogic
Redwood City, Calif. – May 22, 2007 –
According to a recently published report by Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information
about the networking and telecommunications industries, overall Fibre Channel HBA sales dipped 8 percent during the first quarter of 2007. Despite market softness, Emulex gained share during the quarter on the strength of IBM P and X series servers and new design wins on servers from a broader range of manufacturers.
“HBAs designed for blade servers, named Mezzanine HBAs, will bring new business to the traditional HBA manufacturers, particularly as 4 Gbps products become widespread,” said Tam Dell’Oro, President and Founder of Dell’Oro Group. “We predict 4 Gbps Mezzanine HBA sales to more than triple during 2007 and Emulex and QLogic are already benefiting,” added Dell’Oro.
