Thomson Telecom Drives SOHO Wireless LAN Market Growth in the Fourth Quarter of 2006
Thomson Telecom Rivals Linksys for Market Share
Redwood City, Calif. – February 20, 2007 –
A recently published report from Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the
networking and telecommunications industries, reveals that Thomson Telecom posted sequential quarterly
revenue growth of 55 percent in the fourth quarter of 2006, more than any other vendor in the small
office / home office (SOHO) wireless LAN market.
According to the report, Thomson Telecom’s recent strength in the market indicates the continued trend for
service providers to supply customer premise equipment with wireless LAN capabilities, such as France
Telecom’s Livebox and BT’s Home Hub.
“In the fourth quarter, Thomson Telecom came in a close second behind Linksys in market share,” said
Elmer Choy, Senior Analyst of Wireless LAN Research at Dell’Oro Group. “The last time a vendor in the SOHO
market came this close to contesting Linksys’ market leadership was in 2003. After a significant margin,
NETGEAR, Siemens, and D-Link follow next in market share,” added Choy.
The report also indicates that the SOHO market comprises the largest segment of the total wireless
LAN market; however, the Enterprise market grew the fastest during 2006, with an annual revenue increase
of 37 percent.
