Enterprise Router Market Falls Short in Fourth Quarter

Tempered Spending in North America Hits Market Leader Cisco Systems

Redwood City, Calif. – February 26, 2008 – According to a newly published report by Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, the worldwide enterprise router market stumbled in the fourth quarter of 2007 due to weaker demand in North America. The report highlights the sharp decline in the Access Router segment within North America, the largest portion of the total market, and one that is dominated by Cisco Systems. For all of 2007, Cisco Systems garnered more than 85 percent revenue share of the worldwide Access Router market.

“The fourth quarter softness was isolated to North America, but it was enough to offset good growth in other parts of the world,” said Shin Umeda, Vice President at Dell’Oro Group. “The weakening economic conditions in the U.S. no doubt played a part in the way businesses are approaching their network upgrades,” added Umeda.
