REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – December 19, 2016 – A recently published report from Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, revealed the 3Q16 IMS Core and Session Border Controller (SBC) revenues continued to accelerate year-over-year, growing 14 percent and 8 percent respectively. Huawei continued to lead the IMS Core market, followed by Ericsson and Nokia.
“Huawei, Ericsson, and Nokia continued their dominance in the IMS Core market, required for the delivery of services like Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Voice over WiFi, both which are currently surging in popularity,” said Chris DePuy, Vice President at Dell’Oro Group. “Looking at the SBC market, we find that VoLTE is the main driver. We expect significant VoLTE growth in the coming quarters and years. Service Providers have significant motivation to move customers to VoLTE as they look to re-farm spectrum that is currently being used for 2G and 3G services over to 4G/LTE and, eventually, 5G,” DePuy continued.
