Cliff Grossner joined Dell’Oro Group in 2021. At Dell’Oro Group, Dr. Grossner maintains a broad view of IT Ecosystems from cloud to the edge looking at the equipment, software, and physical infrastructure [power and cooling] needed for computation. His current research agenda includes coverage on Edge Computing, and IT Equipment Silicon including coprocessors for AI and ML, AI driven data center automation suites and adoption of open infrastructure including OCP certified designs.
Dr. Grossner has more than 25 years of telecommunications industry experience encompassing scientific research, market analysis, corporate and product strategy, product management and marketing. A recognized thought leader, he frequently is an expert judge for industry and technology innovation awards and an invited conference speaker, who is often quoted in technical publications, including SDx Central, Light Reading, Fierce Telecom, eWeek, Network Computing and Lightwave Online.
Prior to Dell’Oro Group, Dr. Grossner was head of the Cloud and Data Center Research Practice at Omdia. He joined Omdia in 2019 with the acquisition of IHS Markit Technology, which acquired Infonetics Research in 2014. Dr. Grossner has a track record of successfully identifying nascent markets and building research practices. He has held senior positions in the information and communications technology industries, including heading strategic marketing for Alcatel-Lucent’s enterprise network business, tenures at Bell Labs, Sesame Networks, NewStep Networks, and Nortel.
At McGill and Concordia universities, he worked as a research scientist and faculty lecturer specializing in artificial intelligence, distributed computing, and computer architecture. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy at McGill University, and his Master of Science in Computer Science at Concordia University, both in Montreal, Canada, having been awarded national scholarships. He holds over 10 patents.
