REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – July 28, 2015 –A new report by Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, reveals that the Enterprise Edge market, which consists of Enterprise-class Wireless LAN and Campus Ethernet switches, is expected to exceed $17 billion by 2019.

“In the past year, an entirely new Ethernet market has emerged to serve the growing bandwidth demands of the campus environment. Multi-Gigabit Ethernet, which includes 2.5 Gbps and 5 Gbps speeds, solves a upcoming dilemma for enterprises that have already built a wiring infrastructure between switches and their WLAN infrastructure, and who don’t want to replace the cables but want to increase throughput to support emerging 802.11ac Wave 2 WLAN systems,” said Chris DePuy, Vice President of Enterprise Edge research at Dell’Oro Group. “Our analysis shows that, yes, these Multi-Gigabit switches cost more than traditional 1 Gbps switches, but they also allow re-use of existing cabling infrastructure, which for many enterprises, is a significant savings.”

In this report, forecasts by port and revenue are available for Multi-Gigabit switches, as well as for all Campus Ethernet switch speeds from <1 Gbps to 100 Gbps.
