REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – May 20, 2015 –A recently published report from Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center information technology (IT) industries, revealed that growth-oriented segments in the Carrier IP Telephony market, namely IMS Core, Voice Application Servers (VAS) and Session Border Controllers (SBCs), now collectively represent more than 60% of total market revenues. The continued upswing in spending on these segments is being driven by adoption of Voice of LTE (VoLTE) and VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi) services.

“We are seeing strong signs that the end of the hardware era in Carrier IP Telephony will soon be upon us,” said Chris DePuy, Vice President of Carrier IP Telephony research at Dell’Oro Group. “Some vendors are choosing to no longer take orders for hardware systems, while both vendors and service providers are engaged in significant trialing of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) systems involving Carrier IP Telephony functions. We expect that by the end of 2015, several service providers will be carrying live traffic over such systems,” DePuy explained.

The Dell’Oro Group Quarterly Carrier IP Telephony Report offers complete, in-depth coverage of the market with tables covering manufacturers’ revenue, shipments, and average selling prices for both wireline and wireless voice core markets.
