REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – July 29, 2015 –According to a newly published report by Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, Mobile Backhaul equipment, consisting of Transport and Routers & Switches, is forecast to generate approximately $39 billion of revenue by 2019.

“There is still a great need for mobile backhaul equipment,” said Jimmy Yu, Vice President of Mobile Backhaul Market Research at Dell’Oro Group.  “But the annual revenue growth rates will soften through the next five years and the type of equipment needed in the future will change.  For one, the need for Layer 2 and 3 network elements increases with the mobile radio access network moving to a higher concentration of LTE radios.  We’re predicting steady growth in Routers & Switches through 2019.  The other change is that operators will eventually begin to roll out more small cells than macro cells.  Since small cells have a different set of backhaul requirements than the traditional macro cells, we expect a rise in demand for smaller form factor equipment at lower price points, among a number of other changes,” added Mr. Yu.
