REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – June 7, 2017 – According to a recently published report from Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, All Flash Array market revenue grew 48 percent year-over-year in 1Q17, reaching just over $1.3 B.
“All Flash Array is the only segment growing in the external storage market space,” said Jimmy Yu, Vice President at Dell’Oro Group. “While the total market for external storage has contracted for the past two years, and will likely decline again this year, all flash storage system sales are reaching all new highs. We predict All Flash Array revenue to grow approximately 40 percent in 2017 to reach nearly $7 B while Disk and Hybrid Storage system revenues decline about 14 percent,” added Yu.
The top two manufacturers in the quarter were Dell EMC and NetApp. In the quarter, Dell EMC maintained the highest market share and NetApp gained the most market share compared to the year ago period. In 1Q17, NetApp’s revenue share increased six percentage points from 15 percent in 1Q16.
