Siân Morgan joined Dell’Oro Group in 2022 and is responsible for research on the Enterprise LAN market, including new architectures and services models. She built coverage on Campus NaaS and Public Cloud-Managed LAN to augment her coverage in the Wireless LAN and Ethernet Switch—Campus markets. Her research includes analysis of enterprise adoption of Public and Private Cloud-Managed platforms and Artificial Intelligence driven operations. In early 2023, she accurately predicted the 2024 WLAN market downturn, identifying not only that the market contraction was about to occur, but also identifying the rate of contraction with remarkable precision.
Prior to joining Dell’Oro Group, Ms. Morgan brings over 25 years of senior management experience in telecommunications and network technologies such as 5G, OpenStack, LTE, IMS, and Wi-Fi. Prior to joining Dell’Oro, Ms. Morgan was the senior director responsible for technology strategy and integration at Videotron, a wireline and wireless operator in Canada. As department head, Ms. Morgan established the core network and device technology strategy and was instrumental in launching services such as Voice Over LTE and 5G. She was also involved in a wide breadth of complex projects, including the implementation of network virtualization, the development of IoT foundations, and the roll-out of high-speed transmission networks.
Ms. Morgan has held a variety of positions in the telecommunications industry, including pre-sales, research and development, and engineering post-sales support. She spent a decade working in Europe and is fluent in both French and English. She has spoken at international conferences on a variety of topics such as Next-Generation Networks, Wi-Fi traffic steering, Voice over LTE, and On-Line Charging Systems. Her articles and essays have been published in the IEEE Communications Magazine, Fierce Telecom, Pipeline Magazine, and RCR Wireless. She has taught a university networking course and has worked with start-ups developing 5G and IoT products.
Ms. Morgan’s research and analysis have been cited in leading trade and business publications such as IEEE ComSoc, Fierce Network, Light Reading, Lightwave Online, Mobile World Live, NetworkWorld, Network Computing, RCR Wireless, SDxCentral, and TechTarget. She has been invited to speak at industry conferences, including Fierce Wi-fi Summit, MEF, Wi-Fi World Global Congress North America. Ms. Morgan frequently serves as an expert judge for Wi-Fi Broadband Alliance (WBA) Award, Wi-Fi Now Award, MEF GNE Excellence Awards, and Light Reading Leading Lights Awards.
Ms. Morgan has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from McGill University where she was designated a Scarlet Key for her outstanding leadership. She has complemented her technology background with a graduate certificate in Management Accounting from the John Molson School of Business, an M.B.A from Université de Quebec en Outaouais, and a 90th percentile placement on the level one Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute exam. She is a certified professional accountant (CPA) and a full-standing Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ) member.
