I also think that 2022 is the year where we start to see these Flexible MAC and remote MACPHY deployments, which I think are going to grow in 2023 and beyond as part of that DOCSIS 4.0 upgrade cycle.”

By adding Secucloud into the mix, Aryaka can better provide customers, especially smaller businesses, with a “one-stop-shop” for security and networking services, says Mauricio Sanchez, research director for Dell’Oro Group. This acquisition also puts Aryaka on more equal footing with other SASE providers such as Cato Networks and Versa Networks, he adds.

But the problem isn’t necessarily demand, it’s supply, wrote Jeff Heynen of the research firm Dell’Oro Group. “Instead of ‘if you build it, they will come’ supply chain and labor market constraints might prevent operators from building it in the first place,” he wrote.

“The numbers would be even higher if the supply chains were in order and there weren’t shortages with materials needed for fiber buildout,” says Jeff Heynen, vice president of broadband access and home networking for Dell’Oro. “These shortages were due in part to factory shutdowns in China because of the coronavirus. Once a factory shuts down, it takes time to ramp production back up, and this further contributed to the supply chain challenges to meet demand in 2020.”
